The Efficiency
Farmers Union General Manager, Bernie Schafer, wanted to create more efficiencies for his customers. With only one delivery truck crisscrossing the county, Schafer needed a better way to get farmers their fuel on demand.

“We noticed an immediate need for more farm storage tanks,” Schafer said. “We wanted our service to be more efficient and our product to be more accessible.” After some research, he decided on Westmor’s brand of farm skid tanks.

The Popularity
His first order was for seven of our SK-2000 tanks, but those sold before the shipment even arrived. On the next order, Schafer decided to mix it up a bit and ordered a combination of SK-560’s, SK-1000’s and more SK-2000’s. “Within a matter of six weeks, those were sold too,” he said.

The new tank owners now have immediate access to fuel when they need it. Whether it be on the farm, at the shop or at their bin site, there’s no more downtime waiting for a delivery.

Since then, the popularity in the region has created a new partnership between Farmers Union and Westmor. The Wilton, North Dakota-based company is our newest farm tank distributor, giving local farmers access to the tanks from a source close to home.

The Quality
What sold Schafer on the Westmor brand tanks from the start? He says it all came down to quality.

“After comparing weights with a competitor, we found the Westmor tanks were about 200 pounds heavier,” he said. “They’re built with a heavier gauge steel and that gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling, a better sense of security that the seams will hold and the welds won’t fail.”
