The Job
This 4×4 off-road unit was specifically designed to aid the Bureau of Land Management in their wildlife firefighting efforts. The truck was delivered to Idaho where it delivers fuel and maintenance support to fire suppression vehicles.

“During the summer fire season, this support vehicle proves invaluable to the various field offices that had the ability to use it,” said Carol Dorsey, an equipment specialist with the Bureau.

“It replaced an older vehicle that had been converted and didn’t meet some of the new codes and regulatory issues,” she said. “The Westmor truck meets or exceeds these codes and is much safer and easier to operate.”

The Features
Because each environment requires a different set of features, Westmor relies on a strong ability to customize anything and everything that comes through our assembly line. For this particular unit, Dorsey made special mention of the following personalized features:

  • Auxiliary working lights for night operations
  • A spare tire with an electric let-down system
  • Tank overfill protection
  • Bottom reloading tank system
  • Emergency shut-offs located at several points
  • Air compressor for tire service and air filter service
  • Permanent mounted placards detailing step-by-step fueling and refueling operations

The Quality
“With the quality of workmanship and forethought to details by Westmor, I am confident this vehicle will provide the BLM many years of trouble free service,” Dorsey said.
